Industrial Edge with AWS
Softing's Industrial Edge products offer connectivity at the interface between OT and IT in industrial applications. The products can be easily integrated and operated in IIoT solutions based on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.
This is made possible by the support of Docker containers by AWS IoT Greengrass. Softing's industrial edge products can thus be managed as Docker containers on edge level via the AWS platform in the same way as all other software components for edge computing.
In addition, Softing Industrial Edge products support the standard OPC UA, MQTT and httpREST protocols. This ensures seamless integration into the AWS reference architecture for Industrial IoT.

The benefits to users are:
- Connectivity as part of an industrial edge can be managed efficiently and centrally via the AWS platform.
- In many cases, there is no need to use additional hardware to connect to devices.
- With OPC UA and MQTT, Softing's products for Industrial Edge support the appropriate protocols to provide data for processing at the edge and cloud level.
- Softing has many years of experience with industrial applications, which contributes to the development of Industrial Edge products.
All Industrial Edge products can be configured via a built-in web interface. They also provide an httpREST interface via which all configuration settings can be made. With an edgeConfigurator component, Softing enables configuration through applications at the cloud level.
In cooperation with AWS, Softing offers an AWS Quick Start for edgeConnector Siemens. The Quick Start is an easy way to bring the edge connector Siemens and AWS IoT SiteWise automatically in the AWS cloud. It demonstrates how Siemens’s controllers can be connected to the AWS cloud in a secure and scalable way.
