Fieldbus Infrastructure
FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 and PROFIBUS PA (Process Automation) are used for simple and reliable communication between field devices and process control systems in process engineering environments. Not only the data communication but also the power supply of the field devices can be transmitted via the two-wire bus cable.
The Softing gateway assumes the position of the process control system and is connected to the field devices via the appropriate bus topology.

You can also opt for any other fieldbus infrastructure components from other providers such as MTL (Eaton), Pepper + Fuchs, Turck in order to connect field devices to the Softing gateways.
Fieldbus Power Supply
The 9412 Fieldbus Power Supplies provide single or redundant power to FOUNDATION ™ Fieldbus H1 or PROFIBUS PA segments. Its high output power of up to 28 V and 500 mA enables the operation of large numbers of devices over long distances. For higher power applications, two power supplies in boost mode can feed up to 1 A in parallel. All models monitor the fieldbus segments for overload and short circuit, and also diagnose fieldbus Advanced Physical Layer parameters, such as for example the jitter and the signal level.
In addition to the fieldbus power supplies of the 9412 series, the bus carrier series 9419 is specially adapted to the Softing gateway. This guarantees a fast, cost-saving installation.
Field Device Couplers
The R. STAHL Ex-i field device couplers are available with 4 or 8 channels as Zone 1 version and cost optimized Zone 2 version. All Ex-i couplers have galvanic isolation and can be operated with Zone 1 fieldbus devices according to FISCO or Entity.
Zone 1 Ex-e couplers are suitable for 4 or 8 non-intrinsically safe fieldbus devices. The Zone 2 Ex-n couplers are available as 4, 8 and 12-channel variants for ic and non-intrinsically safe fieldbus devices.
Due to their power management, all field device couplers keep the current load of the trunk as small as possible at all times. Inrush currents and short-circuit currents are kept to a minimum.
Physical Layer Diagnosis
Fieldbus power supplies of the ISbus series continuously measure all relevant physical layer values according to NAMUR NE 123, e.g. voltage / current, jitter, noise, signal levels and un-symmetries. These values are collected by the diagnostic communication module 9415 from up to 8 FF-H1 segments and transmitted to the host (FG-200) or the asset management system via a freely selectable H1 segment.
Fieldbus Terminator
The Fieldbus Terminators Series 9418 serve as the terminating resistor for PROFIBUS PA or FOUNDATION ™ Fieldbus H1 fieldbuses. Available in Ex-i and Ex-m versions for intrinsically safe FISCO / Entity and for non-intrinsically safe (High Power Trunk) fieldbuses. Extremely compact design for space-saving installation in M20 cable entries, also clearly visible when installed.
