Softing Industrial announces the release of the 5069-SDN, a DeviceNet communication module designed for in-chassis installation in Rockwell’s current 5380 controller platform. Officially named the compactLink HW-DN, the 5069-SDN enables Rockwell Automation users to migrate from legacy Allen-Bradley PLCs—such as the PLC-5, SLC-500, and 1769 CompactLogix—to the 5380 platform while maintaining connectivity with existing DeviceNet devices.
The 5069-SDN enables seamless DeviceNet integration within the 5069 chassis architecture. With this release, Softing extends its proven portfolio of Allen-Bradley-compatible in-chassis communication modules. The compactLink HW-DN provides control, configuration, and data exchange between 5380 controllers and DeviceNet devices, offering a streamlined upgrade path for DeviceNet-based systems.
This module supports the same message and data types as the legacy 1769-SDN and includes AutoScan functionality to reduce manual configuration time. It supports up to 63 DeviceNet nodes, making it well-suited for small to mid-sized installations. Its in-chassis form factor minimizes the need for additional wiring or DIN rail space, simplifying panel layouts and reducing installation time.
“As a Rockwell Technology Partner, we’re pleased to provide a native in-chassis solution that supports Rockwell’s 5380 platform while preserving customers’ investments in DeviceNet,” said Deane Horn, Director of Product Management at Softing Inc. “Our relationship with Rockwell allows us to deliver high-reliability communication tools that extend the capabilities of their control platforms.”
