During our training you learn everything from A to Z on CAN and CANopen for daily practice. We teach you the necessary specific knowledge to plan, operate and maintain CAN networks.

Overview

After the first day of the training, you will be familiar with the concept underlying CAN and the characteristics of CAN bus. The training provides key knowledge of the CANopen protocol and presents the characteristic features of data transmission with CANopen. Participants will also get to know the basic elements of the DeviceNet protocol and the characteristics of DeviceNet data transmission.

The second day is dedicated to hands-on training showing you how to analyse networks that are not working properly.

You will learn how to correctly interpret the test results and develop the appropriate problem solving strategies. Based on real-world examples and supported by our trainers, you will learn how to work with communication and analysis tools in order to eliminate avoidable downtimes and make communication more robust.

  • Transmission technology, modifications to the CAN standard

Day 2

  • Physical analysis of CAN networks
    • General statements on the bus state, recording of time-related and location-related signal waveforms
    • Eliminating physical disturbances on the basis of the test results
  • Logical communication analysis
    • Tracing and analysing frames
    • Using filters to identify errors
    • Correction and optimization based on the test results

Target group

At the end of this training, you will be familiar with the communication possibilities provided by CAN protocols. This training is tailored to engineers and technicians whose job is to commission and maintain CAN / CANopen and DeviceNet networks. This course has been developed especially for those people responsible for ensuring robust communication to guarantee a smooth production process.
