ESS Co., Ltd., the engineering partner of Softing Industrial Automation for the Japanese and Asian market has now finished porting the Softing PROFINET Device stack to the Renesas R-IN32M3 processor. The ported PROFINET Device stack complies with the PROFINET Conformance Class B (PROFINET RT).
For accessing the stack by the device application, ESS is also providing Softing’s lean Simple Device Application Interface (SDAI), which allows the fast implementation of the application’s communication access without requiring in-depth communication know-how. This access library is protocol-independent and supports accessing various communication protocols via a unique interface without requiring an application modification. In addition, ESS will also provide the Industrial Ethernet protocols EtherCAT Slave as well as EtherNet/IP Adapter running on the Renesas R-IN32M3 processor, supporting the identical SDAI interface.
For evaluation purposes, ESS has also prepared a PROFINET Device Evaluation Kit. This downloadable image is targeted to the IAR KickStart Kit and includes the time-limited, re-usable PROFINET Device stack in binary, sample application code in source format, a sample PLC program, the appropriate GSDML file plus a complete set of documentation.
The PROFINET Device stack running on the Renesas R-IN32M3 processor is exclusively available through ESS. Additional services provided by ESS include porting of the SDAI interface to customer-specific target platforms and related consulting services, e.g. for device measurement application development.
