Protocol Stacks for XILINX-FPGAs
The Softing offer consists of customizable IP Core configurations together with an according protocol software and application interface. For supporting the PROFINET protocol the IP Core configuration is built-up by a switch IP Core and one or two MicroBlaze processors. For access to the protocol functionality a standardized software application programming interface is provided, which also supports the use of additional protocols (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, MODBUS, PROFIBUS), which are planned to be implemented for the Xilinx FPGA in the future.
A transparent IT channel can be added to all Industrial Ethernet configurations.

Product Use Cases
The existing components allow the implementation of PROFINET Device functionality for an existing hardware or for a hardware under development. The individual requirements to be met can be found in the documentation.
The switch IP Core can be used for all protocols that support a line topology in addition to the star topology. This switch IP Core provides an internal and two external ports. Individual port enhancements are possible. In the MicroBlaze processor the eCos operating system is used for executing the PROFINET Device stack. The easy-to-use application programming interface will support various protocols in the future. The use of a standard application programming interface eliminates the need for repetitive learning.
