FOUNDATION™ fieldbus H1 Host Stack
Portable FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 Multi-Channel Protocol Software for Host Systems and Controllers
The FOUNDATION fieldbus (FF) H1 host stack provides protocol software designed for implementation in customer-specific FF H1 host systems and controllers. It supports the entire range of FF features and allows simultaneous access to up to four FF H1 segments.
Quick Adaptation to Customer-Specific Hardware Platforms
Full Set of Functionality
Proven Quality Through Market Leading Position
Portability to Customer-Specific Hardware Platforms
The FF H1 host stack is a compact, yet high-performance protocol software implementation that is optimized to run very efficiently on any hardware and operating system platform. As a result, the flexible design of the Softing FF H1 host stack supports the quick adaptation of the software to customer-specific target platforms.
Support of Full Range of Protocol Features
Softing’s FF H1 host stack has been implemented to support the full spectrum of the Fieldbus Foundation specification. The protocol software can control up to four FF H1 segments as a Link Active Scheduler (LAS) and Time Master (TM). It provides a complete interface for implementing typical host applications. Furthermore, the modular design of the protocol software allows the host manufacturer to individually select what functionality will be supported by his host system.
Proven Software Quality
Softing has been one of the first companies to implement the FF H1 host stack. Today, more than 70% of all certified FF H1 host systems and field devices are based on Softing’s protocol stack. The reason that so many host manufacturers have opted to integrate Softing’s conformant, high-performance, and industry-hardened protocol stack into their systems is founded on Softing’s uncompromising commitment to quality and Softing’s extensive experience with embedding communication software into industrial components.

Easy Setup of FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 NetworkThe FF Starter Kit includes all hardware and software components necessary to setup, configure, and monitor an FF H1 network. It is mainly based on Softing’s successful FF products and includes a Linking Device, a sample FF H1 field device with interactive simulation capabilities, a Windows-based configuration tool, a power conditioner, cables, as well as detailed documentation. This stand alone Starter Kithas been designed with ease-of-use in mind and does not require any development or other time-consuming preparation work. Becoming Familiar with FOUNDATION FieldbusThe plug-and-play FF Starter Kit allows evaluating and learning FF technology. Users of this solution are enabled to gain practical experience in planning, configuring, setting up, running and maintaining a network. In addition to learning purposes, the Starter Kit can be used for demonstrations and showroom applications. Test Environment for Device DevelopmentThe FF Starter Kit is moreover designed for laboratory and development use and enables users to carry out FF H1 field device tests. The included Linking Device provides access via FF High Speed Ethernet (HSE) to up to 4 segments with up to 16 devices each. Process values can be monitored and individual network situations can be tested by using the FF H1 field device simulation capabilities. | Additional Information | |
